The First Volume of Tsinghua Science History and Philosophy Was Released
On May 16, the seventh anniversary of the Department of the History of Science, Tsinghua University and the symposium in honor of George Sarton(1884-1956), Alexandre Koyre(1892-1964) and ZHU kezhen(1890-1974) organized by the Department of the History of Science, Tsinghua University and the Science Museum of Tsinghua University (preparatory) was held. Meanwhile, the first volume of the “Tsinghua Science History and Philosophy” series published by TUP was released. HAN Qide, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Honorary Chairman of the China Association for Science and Technology, wrote the title of the book in Chinese calligraphy and delivered a speech.
“Tsinghua Science History and Philosophy” is curated and edited by Professor WU Guosheng, head of the Department of History of Science. It aims to enhance the exchange and integration of the two related disciplines of the history of science and technology in China and the philosophy of science and technology, encourage original research and critical comments, and promote academic standards and discipline construction. There are permanent columns for “Essays” “Translations” “Book Reviews” and “Book News”. Each volume can also have 2-3 special columns. “Tsinghua Science History and Philosophy” is aimed at pioneers and students in the fields of science and technology, history of science and technology, and philosophy of science and technology, as well as readers who are interested in science and culture.
Following the publication of the “Tsinghua Science History and Philosophy Textbook Series”, the Department of Science History of Tsinghua University and TUP jointly launched the “Tsinghua Science History and Philosophy” series. It will publish two volumes every year. The purpose is to showcase the academic achievements and characteristics of Tsinghua Science History and Philosophy, and promote the standardization and academic prosperity of the field of science history and philosophy in China. It is believed that the publication of this series will help Tsinghua University's discipline construction and promote the development of science and technology history education in China.
