Steadfast Progress: The Exploration and Practice of Chinese-Style Modernization Releases at Tsinghua University
On July 4th, 2024, the book launching ceremony of Steadfast Progress: The Exploration and Practice of Chinese-Style Modernization was held at the the China Case Center for Public Policy & Management (CCCPPM) 20th Anniversary Development and Innovation Forum.
The book launching ceremony was hosted by MU Ling, Director of the CCCPPM. HE Xuebing, Deputy Director of the Office of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences Administration (OAHSSA), Tsinghua University (TU), and SHI Lei, Deputy General Editor of Tsinghua University Press (TUP) and Director of Academic Publishing, delivered speeches.

HE Xuebing stated that Tsinghua University, within its 14th Five-Year Plan for High-Quality Development of Humanities and Social Sciences and 2030 Innovation Action Plan, has put forth the initiative to set up a case library embodying Chinese characteristics. Steadfast Progress encapsulates this vision by integrating research, instruction, and practical application to summarize and elucidate high-quality case studies. It mirrors the fruits of interdisciplinary cooperation, highlighting local innovative practices, narratives of corporate evolution, and the unfolding of the Belt and Road Initiative, and endeavors to decipher the rich connotation of the Chinese modernization path, thereby disseminating insights into Chinese governance models and novel development paradigms.

SHI Lei noted that Steadfast Progress, set against the backdrop of the new era, interprets six major themes of Chinese modernization. Through 23 cases, it showcases practical wisdom in areas such as whole-process people’s democracy and stategies for achieving high-quality development. He also expressed his appreciation to the authors and contributors for their hard work and announced that the second volume is presently under editorial review. Futhermore, he affirmed that TUP remains committed to facilitating the global dissemination of the book and to contributing to the establishment of case library with Chinese characteristics and to fostering high-end talents.

The book is the first volume in the TU Series on Cases with Chinese Characteristics, and has been included as a featured selection by the Ministry of Education in 2023. The book, under the aegis of the OAHSSA, TU, and completed by the CCCPPM, School of Public Policy & Management of TU, is a tribute to the concerted efforts of nearly 100 faculty members and students from the School of Public Policy & Management, the School of Economics and Management, the School of Economics and Management, PBC School of Finance, the School of Social Sciences, the School of Architecture, the Institute of Education, and Think Tank Research Center in TU.
